General Health & Safety
Safety For Design has over 20 years experience providing competent safety, health and environmental advice to a broad spectrum of businesses.
If a company employs more than 5 people, then by under Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work etc, Act 1974 you are required to record your risk assessments and have a Health & Safety Policy in place, with a Health & Safety Policy Statement, signed by the head of the company. Companies, under Regulation 7 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work, should also appoint a competent person who has the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to manage Health & Safety. For many small, low risk companies, the head of the organisation may act as a competent person, but for other businesses, it may be prudent to outsource this resource.
A company concentrating on core business activities makes good business sense, Safety For Design can assist by advising you, as your competent person, allowing you to focus on your core business.

Health and safety doesn’t have to be time-consuming and complex, the key to effective safety, health and environmental management is to keep it simple, yet develop a policy that your staff will buy into – one that demonstrates your commitment to their welfare.
A good health and safety framework is one that evolves and grows with the business, and promotes continual improvement. Any other approach within a company will simply stagnate and become an unnecessary, unworkable burden.
